“It is neither the strongest of the species that survives nor the most intelligent. It is the one, that is most adaptable to the change.” Charles Darwin.
The above quote the man who gave us the Theory of Evolution, best summarises my 2020 journey.
The year started somewhat normally for me. Being a Cabin Crew with an International Airline, I was still flying to multiple destinations, although there was an impending danger related to the spread of the Covid-19 Virus. But come March, everything stopped. There was a ban imposed by the government on International and Domestic travel and a lockdown was imposed. The threat of Covid-19 was now as real as it can get.
Impact on my life:
Like everyone else I too was confined to the safety of my house. The change was initially too big for me to handle. Being forced to live a routine life was too much for me to bear. Following a fixed sleeping and waking up schedule, eating meals on time, performing chores in the house, were big changes for me to handle. On top of that, I was forced to spend a lot of time with the family. Not used to their constant presence, I was a little uncomfortable in the beginning. All these things required some tough adjustments to my lifestyle.
Coping up with the Change:
However, amongst all these gruesome changes, there were a few positive opportunities too. Most importantly, after a long time, I had some time to sit back and introspect. I started enjoying the family time and my eating and sleeping patterns actually started benefiting my health.
I also thought about what I really wanted to do with my life. I went back to reading a lot of books and finally decided to get back to the thing I loved doing. I started writing.
I started working on a story idea, I had been juggling with for quite some time. I finally finished writing a Book, a Spy Thriller, titled Retribution - The Hunt for a Traitor. And I published it. The satisfaction it gave me is beyond any description.
This experience made me realize that every dark cloud hides behind it a shining ray of golden Sunlight. With time the clouds disperse and the sun shines bright. All we need to do is to be patient, adapt to the changes, and keep working hard.
